How top funds reinvent VC with AI

Hey Reader 👋,

For the last couple of years, most venture firms have treated AI as a productivity layer.

As we pass early adoption, the more interesting question is no longer how to use AI, but how to operate with AI at the core.

Think of how businesses did not digitize immediately, once the internet came, we slowly moved from websites to shifting entire business models to be redesigned around it.

That is the transition we're interested in. How are top firms using AI to rebuild how venture actually operates.

Sourcing, diligence, portfolio support, and LP reporting now run through AI-native workflows. The result has helped teams move faster, write better memos, process more information in less time. Besides speed, what else is changing in the industry?

Theme of the Week:

The shift from 'using AI' to rebuilding venture capital around it.

Some funds are starting to design their operations with AI embedded from the start. Information moves continuously. Signals appear earlier. Decisions carry context forward instead of restarting at each step.

What happens when you can process 200 startups a day rather than 2? When sourcing no longer depends on who sends a deck or who gets an introduction. What happens to an industry built on data when structure, automation and bias play an important role?

What actually changes inside an AI-first fund

  • The fund is designed as a system, not a collection of tools.
  • Sourcing is built around early signal detection, not inbound decks.
  • Diligence centers on synthesis and contradiction, not narrative review.
  • Workflows are designed to accumulate learning over time.
  • AI functions as operating logic that shapes decisions, not as a shortcut for tasks.

To try this week

This week’s goal is simple: start redesigning the VC operating model with AI first.

If you already work in VC:

Pick a VC function such as: sourcing, diligence, portfolio support, LP reporting, etc.

Sketch how it would look if AI were foundational rather than additive. Use this framing for internal discussions or to present a concrete proposal to leadership.

If you are exploring roles in VC or trying to break in:

Reach out to a fund with a thoughtful AI-first operating idea. This can help you stand out and start a real conversation. It can also turn into a first project-focused internship, as many funds are open to exploring concrete operating ideas and experiments.

That's it for this week's newsletter.
